How to get the most out of your eye exam

First and foremost…you want to go to a “good eye doctor.”

Here at Eyeballs we have dealings with many of the Ophthmalogist and Optometrists in the area. We have a pretty good idea of who is friendly, thorough and has a competent office staff. We will be happy to assist you in your choice.

As far as what you can do for yourself…it’s pretty easy:

  • First, make sure you get a good night sleep.

  • Second, try not to have to “rush” to your appointment.

  • Finally, make sure you eat at least 30 minutes before you go in to see the doctor.

Now, this final step can be pretty tricky if your doctor is running late or has an emergency and you are left to sit in the waiting room for an extended amount of time.

Bring snacks! Juice, some crackers, some cookies, or a piece of fruit would be good. What you don’t want to do is see your doctor on an empty stomach. Grabbing a piece of toast and a half a cup of coffee at 6 am; then skipping lunch in order to get to your appointment at 2 pm, is a recipe for a prescription disaster.

If you are one of the many people who can be affected by low blood sugar…your new prescription will be off, and that will require you to see your doctor again and get re-checked. This wastes valuable time and delays you in getting a pair of eyeglasses with an accurate lens prescription.

We at Eyeballs want you to have the best possible eye doctor experience. This will then allow us, to craft for you, a comfortable pair of eyeglasses with an outstanding vision correction.
